Ingredients

12 slider buns

1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or spicy, based on preference)

1 cup marinara sauce

1 cup sliced pepperoni

1 cup sliced bell peppers (red and green)

1 cup sliced provolone cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Add the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning to the skillet with the sausage. Stir until well combined and simmer for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

While the mixture simmers, slice the slider buns in half without separating them. Place the bottom halves of the buns on a baking sheet.

Layer half of the provolone cheese on the bottom halves of the buns. Spoon the sausage mixture evenly over the cheese, followed by a layer of pepperoni and bell pepper slices.

Top with the remaining provolone cheese and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over everything.

Close the sliders with the top halves of the buns.

Brush the tops of the buns with a little olive oil and sprinkle with an additional pinch of Italian seasoning, if desired.

Cover the sliders with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and the tops are golden.

Remove from the oven, let sit for a few minutes, then slice into individual sliders. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
