Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon paprika

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 cup beef broth

1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

2-3 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced

1/4 cup milk

1 tablespoon butter

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until translucent. Add the ground beef, salt, pepper, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Broth and Vegetables: Pour in the beef broth and stir in the frozen mixed vegetables. Simmer for about 5 minutes until the mixture is heated through. Remove from heat.

Layer Potatoes: In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, arrange the sliced potatoes evenly on the bottom. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

Combine and Layer: Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture over the sliced potatoes, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Prepare Sauce: In a small saucepan, heat the milk with the butter until melted and well combined. Drizzle this sauce over the top of the cheese layer.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped parsley, and let it cool slightly before serving. Dish out portions, and enjoy your hearty Amish Hamburger Steak Bake!
