1 lb ground beef (80/20)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 bell pepper, finely diced (red or green)

1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped

1 carrot, grated

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon chili paste (adjust for spice preference)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 head of iceberg or butter lettuce, leaves separated and rinsed

Chopped scallions for garnish

Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Lettuce Wraps: Gently rinse and separate the leaves of the lettuce and lay them on a clean towel to dry. Select sturdy, whole leaves for wrapping.

Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic, minced ginger, and chopped onion. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.

Incorporate Vegetables: Add the diced bell pepper, chopped mushrooms, and grated carrot to the skillet. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, allowing the vegetables to soften.

Season the Mixture: Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and chili paste. Mix well and let it simmer for 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Assemble the Wraps: Spoon a generous portion of the beef mixture into the center of each lettuce leaf.

Garnish: Top with chopped scallions and sesame seeds for added flavor and crunch.

Serve: Roll the lettuce around the filling, creating a wrap, and savor each delicious bite. Serve with extra soy sauce or chili paste on the side for dipping.
