Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and both sugars. Mix until well combined.

Stir in the mashed bananas, followed by the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts if using.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
