One of the key reasons why Chocolate Chip Banana Bliss Bars are both delightful and guilt-free is the incorporation of bananas and unsweetened applesauce into the recipe. Bananas are a nutritional powerhouse, providing a wealth of benefits. They are rich in essential nutrients such as potassium, vitamin C, and vitamin B6. Additionally, bananas contain fiber, which aids in digestion and helps you feel full longer. The natural sugars in bananas also mean that they can add a lovely sweetness to baked goods without the need for excessive added sugars.

Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4 cup melted coconut oil (or unsalted butter)

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, applesauce, melted coconut oil, and brown sugar. Mix until well combined.

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the banana mixture, mixing thoroughly.

In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix.

Fold in the dark chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let the bars cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cut into squares and enjoy your delicious Chocolate Chip Banana Bliss Bars!
