Ingredients

4 slices of thick bread (such as brioche or challah)

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

Pinch of salt

Fresh berries (for serving)

Maple syrup (for drizzling)

Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until well combined.

Soak the Bread: Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 30 seconds per side. Make sure the bread is fully coated but not overly soggy.

Caramelize the Sugar: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly across the melted butter, allowing it to start bubbling.

Cook the French Toast: Carefully place the soaked bread slices into the skillet over the caramel mixture. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and add another tablespoon of butter. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the other side is also golden and caramelized.

Serve: Remove the French toast from the skillet and serve immediately. Top with fresh berries and a generous drizzle of maple syrup. Add whipped cream if desired for an extra touch of indulgence.
