Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup milk (warm)

1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Filling:

3 medium-sized apples (peeled, cored, and diced)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese (softened)

1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

2 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons milk (as needed for consistency)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, and sugar. Stir in the instant yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.

      - Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and salt to the mixture. Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.

        - Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

          Prepare the Filling:

            - In a medium bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon until evenly coated. Set aside.

              Roll Out the Dough:

                - After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (approximately 16x12 inches).

                  - Spread the softened butter over the rolled dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Evenly distribute the apple filling over the buttered surface.

                    Form the Rolls:

                      - Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal and then cut the log into 12 equal pieces.

                        - Place the rolled slices in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

                          Bake the Rolls:

                            - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool in the baking dish for about 10 minutes.

                              Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting:

                                - In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. Add milk as needed to achieve desired consistency.

                                  Frost the Rolls:

                                    - Spread the cream cheese frosting generously over the warm cinnamon rolls. Serve immediately and enjoy your decadent treat!
