Ingredients

1 package (12 count) Sweet Hawaiian rolls

6 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup crushed pineapple (drained, if canned)

1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Butter (for greasing the baking dish)

Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter.

Slice the Sweet Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom half in the greased baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.

Pour half of the mixture evenly over the rolls in the baking dish, ensuring they are adequately soaked.

Spread the crushed pineapple, flaked coconut, and chopped nuts (if using) over the rolls. Then place the top half of the rolls on top.

Pour the remaining egg mixture over the top of the rolls, making sure to cover them completely. Press down gently with a spatula to help the rolls absorb the liquid.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and let it sit for about 20 minutes to allow the rolls to soak up the mixture.

After resting, bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes covered. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.

Remove from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup and enjoy!
