Ingredients

For the Brownie Layer:

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips

For the Cookie Dough Layer:

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened

1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar

1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Make the Brownie Layer:

      - In a medium saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of butter over low heat.

        - Remove from heat and mix in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

          - Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until combined and glossy. Fold in the chocolate chips.

            - Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly across the bottom.

              Prepare the Cookie Dough Layer:

                - In a mixing bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

                  - Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

                    - In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

                      Layer the Cookie Dough:

                        - Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto the brownie layer. You can leave some brownie visible to create a marbled effect.

                          - Gently spread the cookie dough over the brownie layer without mixing them, creating a layered appearance.

                            Bake:

                              - Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are okay for fudgy texture).

                                Cool and Serve:

                                  - Allow the brookies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 10 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment paper and let cool completely before cutting into squares.

                                    - Enjoy your fudgy, chewy brookies warm or at room temperature!
